Abstract

With the increasing integration of renewable energy generation into high power grids, transmission at the DC level is becoming increasingly more useful than AC transmission. this paper proposes a high step-up resonant dc-dc converter with a ripple-free input current for renewable energy systems. Using a variable switching frequency control, this converter is continuously operated at the critical conduction mode for soft switching of the power semiconductor switch. By the resonance, the proposed converter reduces the turn-on loss of the switch without additional active switches and alleviates the reverse-recovery losses of the rectifying diodes. By the variable switching frequency, the switch is softly turned on, and the reverse-recovery losses of the rectifying diodes are also eliminated. Design and analysis of the proposed converter are presented with superior performance.
