Faculty of Technical Sciences (FTS), former Pedagogical and Technical Faculty, was founded on November 8th, 1975 aiming at developing teachers of mechanical and electrical engineering, and technical education. A year upon its foundation, Pedagogical and Technical Faculty became one of the founders of University of Kragujevac which began its work on May 21st, 1976. During its long existence, the Faculty changed its name twice – it operated under the name of Technical Faculty from 1986 to 2012 when its name changed to Faculty of Technical Sciences, which provided opportunities for expanding the spectrum of scientific research and general higher education activities.

Over its four decade long existence, Faculty of Technical Sciences, Čačak has evolved into one of the most prominent scientific-research institutions in our country and abroad. The Faculty has also proved a steady supporter to the economy of this region. Its flexibility and permanent advancement and development both in the fields of teaching and scientific research have ensured solid ground for future growth. The Faculty is well known for its interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies. There are six academic sections at the Faculty: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Management, Technics and Informatics and Information Technologies.

Faculty of Technical Sciences is one of the founders of Science and Technology Park in Čačak. FTS is also an organizer or co-organizer of the following international and national conferences: IcETRAN – International Conference on Electrical, Electronic and Computing Engineering; ПЕС– International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics , ATA – Analysis, Topology, Algebra: Theory and Applications; TIO – Technics and Informatics in Education; RPPO – Reengineering of Business Processes in Education; HCC – International Conference on Human Centered Computing. The conferences aim to promote exchange of knowledge and experience among professionals in a wide scientific field.
